If you are like most people who have tried to loose a few pounds here or there, you’ve probably tried the diet and exercise routines and also like most folks have fallen short of your weight loss goal.  It’s not because you have set unrealistic goals, or are lazy. It’s more likely that once you reach a certain percentage of weight loss you need a little extra boost to keep the momentum going.

What happens is your weight loss reaches a plateu when it becomes more difficult to loose weight. You don’t shed the pounds like you used to, and you get discouraged. It’s okay, it happens to all of us.

At this point in your weight loss journey, one of a number of things happen.
You either:

  1. Quit your workouts and eventually start gaining the weight back.
  2. Fight your way through it and slowly continue to loose weight.
  3. Look for weight loss supplements.

Option number one is the most common occurance which leads to what is known as yo-yo weight loss.  The problem with this is when the weight comes back, it normally goes higher than it did when they first started.  Doctors have done studies which show that the repeated removal and gaining of weight does cause strain upon the human body.  This is obviously not the route you want to take.

The second option is a much better option, but unfortunately it is a road far less travelled.

The third and last option is a more common trend, especially in the United States where it’s thought that there is a drug for everything. While it’s common knowledge that all drugs have side effects, its less common to know the full effects of what some of these weight loss drugs can do to you and your body.

One of the most recent and popular weight loss drugs out there ( I will not mention which ) has a laundry list of side effects which in my opinion might be worse than actually being a few pounds overweight.. Let me list a few of them:

  • Oily Foul Smelling Stools
  • Increased Flatulence
  • Loss of bowel control
  • Vitamin Deficiency

These, while not life threatening, are a bit much to live with if you are trying to lose a few extra pounds.

Many other weight loss drugs carry risks of increased hypertension, headaches, heart palpitations, addiction, anxiety and more.

If you need to go the route of using a supplement or pill to help you get over the hump when losing weight, choose a natural herbal supplement in order to assist.

There are less risks of side effects, gentler on your body, and can give you that little extra boost you need to keep the momentum going.
